The department asks that UC claimants contact the UC service centers on either Monday or Tuesday depending on the last digit of their Social Security number.
L&I data suggest that UC service center call volume is significantly higher on Mondays than the rest of the week. By moving some calls to the assigned days, we can offer faster, more efficient service to all claimants.
If your SSN ends in an odd number — 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 — please call for assistance on Monday. If your SSN ends in an even number — 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 — please call on Tuesday.
This initiative reduces busy signals, call wait times and allows claimants faster access to UC representatives. The UC service centers will continue to accept calls from claimants with any SSN on Thursday and Friday.
Claimants are encouraged to follow this system, but will still receive service if they contact the UC service centers on a day that is not his or her assigned day.
Work Registration Enforcement
Don't be Disqualified - Register Today!
PA now has an active search for work regulation (34 Pa. Code § 65.11). As mandated by federal law, all 50 states have an active search for work requirement as a condition of eligibility to receive unemployment compensation benefits.
UC claimants are required to register for employment-search services at www.jobgateway.pa.gov within 30 days after filing an application for benefits. It is easy to register and takes only about 15 minutes. JobGateway ® provides claimants with upwards of 200,000 real-time job postings, so register today at www.jobgateway.pa.gov.
Even if you have previously enrolled in the JobGateway ® or PA CareerLink ® systems, go to www.jobgateway.pa.gov and complete the following element(s) to be certain you have satisfied the UC registration requirement: Social Security Number, Keystone ID/Password and Profile – Work Experience.
Claimants who fail to register as required will be disqualified to receive UC benefits.
Are you a UC claimant looking for a career or a business looking to hire? Keystone Works provides business-driven training opportunities for eligible UC claimants. A claimant can continue to collect full UC benefits while participating in training provided by a business, and the business is entitled to receive incentive payments if the claimant is hired and certain requirements are met.
