Protect Your Identity
When using the chat feature, do NOT disclose any personally identifiable information, including, but not limited to, personal identification number (PIN), full social security number, debit card numbers, direct deposit information, or any other personal information. In order to safeguard confidential information and to protect your identity, also be alert to messages you may receive, and decline any requests for your personally identifiable information. The department will never contact you by chat to request your full social security number.
If the department requires personally identifiable information in order to respond to your chat question, you will be directed to contact the department by phone or e-mail. The department will then respond to your phone call or e-mail by asking you to confirm your full name along with the last four digits of your social security number. We will never send you a chat, text message or email asking for your full social security number, PIN, bank account or debit card number.
